Broker-published estimates read September 2026, global rather than UAE-specific. Fuel surcharges, crew, international handling, ramp, catering, overnights and daily minimums sit on top of the hourly figure.

What the Challenger 650 is for

The Challenger 650 is Bombardier's large-cabin twin and the current end of a line running back through the 605 and 604. The certified model is still CL-600-2B16 (604 Variant), serial 6050 and onward, and crews fly all three on one CL64 type rating.

What it sells is width. Bombardier markets it on the widest cabin in its class, and 7 ft 11 in across a flat floor is a large interior for the money. Against the longer-range jets on the charter market it trades reach for room: 4,000 nm, measured at long-range cruise with 6 passengers and NBAA IFR reserves.

Production is still running in 2026, with 25 airframes delivered between January 2025 and July 2026 and 10 of those in the first 7 months. Spares, training and type-rated crew are not the constraint they become on an out-of-production type.

In the UAE it is present rather than common. Fleet tracking as of 2024 put 56% of the type in North America and 29% in Europe. The documented local example is ExecuJet Middle East's M-HEAD, on the books at Dubai World Central since April 2024.

Challenger 650 charter cost from Dubai

Broker-published estimates for 2026 put the Challenger 650 between $8,500 and $11,000 per flight hour, clustering nearer $9,500. No UAE-specific rate is published for the type, so those are global figures, weighted toward North America where most of the fleet flies.

What moves a Dubai quote inside that band: fuel price on the day, how far the aircraft repositions, crew duty limits, overnights at the far end, and whether the operator holds a daily minimum.

The hourly figure is not the invoice. Fuel surcharges, international handling, ramp, catering and ground transport sit on top, and a Dubai departure carries its own handling, permit and overnight costs.

Trip from Dubai Distance Flight time Hourly band Indicative hours cost
Mumbai 1,041 nm About 2 hr 30 min $8,500–$11,000 $21,250–$27,500
Geneva 2,660 nm About 6 hr 15 min $8,500–$11,000 $53,125–$68,750
London 2,972 nm About 7 hr $8,500–$11,000 $59,500–$77,000
Flight times are worked from great-circle distance at long-range cruise, about 424 kt, and run longer into a headwind. Totals cover those hours only, and exclude the return leg, positioning, surcharges, handling, catering and overnights.

Direct operating cost is estimated at $3,385 per hour.

Range from Dubai

Bombardier's 4,000 nm is a theoretical figure and Bombardier says so on its own specification page: long-range cruise, standard atmosphere, 6 passengers, 2 crew, NBAA IFR reserves. Broker spec tables carry a normal range of 3,756 nm alongside the maximum, and that is the number to plan a real departure around.

Payload is what bites first. Maximum payload is 4,850 lb, but payload with full fuel is 1,150 lb, so a full cabin and a loaded baggage hold mean less than full tanks and less than book range. That trade is settled at the ramp, which is why an operator asks about passenger count and bag weight before confirming.

Bombardier names Dubai to London as a Challenger 650 city pair, and at 2,972 nm that is the useful anchor. Europe, the Gulf, India and most of Southeast Asia sit inside its reach. Southern Africa sits on the edge, and anything across the Pacific or the Atlantic wants a fuel stop planned rather than hoped for.

Great-circle distances from Dubai. Book range assumes still air and a light cabin, so headwinds, passenger load and payload move the marginal legs either way on the day.

Inside the cabin

The cabin runs 25 ft 7 in long, excluding the cockpit and the baggage compartment. It is 7 ft 11 in across at its widest, 6 ft 11 in at the floor line, and 6 ft 0 in high. Cabin volume is 1,146 cu ft on the broker spec tables.

Layouts run to 9 or 10 seats in normal charter service, 12 at the top of what Bombardier markets, and 19 as the maximum certified seating, limited by exits. The type certificate covers an aircraft without passenger provisions, so every interior is approved individually.

Sleeping, and what is not there

Seats swivel through 180 degrees, track, recline and berth, and a 4-place divan with berthing capability is the common option on aircraft flying long sectors. There is no stateroom and no shower on any published configuration. The Challenger 650 sleeps in the open cabin.

The galley sits forward: work surface, oven, microwave, sink, drainable ice drawer and chilled storage, with a wardrobe by the entrance. Aft is one enclosed lavatory. The layout amounts to two living areas, a forward club and an aft divan or second club.

Baggage is 115 cu ft and stays reachable in flight, which matters on a 7-hour sector to London. The windows are taller and set higher than the previous generation's, with 30 percent more viewing area.

How it compares

The Challenger 605 is the same fuselage on the same CL64 type rating, so an operator moves crews between the two without retraining. The 650 adds the Bombardier Vision flight deck with Pro Line 21 Advanced, a redesigned galley and CF34-3B MTO engines rated 5 percent above the 605's for takeoff thrust. Externally they are near-identical; the tapered angular tailcone is the tell.

The Challenger 350 shares the family name and little of the airframe. It is a super-midsize with a slimmer fuselage and a different window pitch, so the choice is cabin size rather than badge. Against a Gulfstream or a Global the 650 is shorter and stubbier, with small canted winglets instead of long raked tips.

On the ramp it has the footprint of a regional jet, literally: the CRJ100/200 came off this same Challenger fuselage.

Who should charter it, and who should not

Ideal for

  • Dubai to Europe with a full cabin. London at 2,972 nm and Geneva at 2,660 nm sit inside book range.
  • Groups who want width over reach. Bombardier markets the widest cabin in its class, and the flat floor runs all 25 ft 7 in.
  • Trips where the bags matter. 115 cu ft of baggage, reachable in flight, takes ski gear, golf bags or equipment cases.
  • Gulf and India sectors. Doha at 204 nm, Riyadh at 472 nm and Mumbai at 1,041 nm are short enough that the daily minimum sets the price.
  • Buyers who want a type with depth. Production is running in 2026, with 25 airframes delivered since January 2025.

Wrong choice for

  • Dubai to New York. 5,951 nm against a 4,000 nm book range. The fuel stop is not optional.
  • Passengers who want a private bedroom. No stateroom, no shower. Sleeping happens on berthed seats in the open cabin.
  • Full loads on long legs. Payload with full fuel is 1,150 lb, so a packed cabin and maximum range never happen together.
  • Short-notice availability in the UAE. The type is uncommon here: 56% of the fleet sits in North America as of 2024.

Availability is the practical question, not the specification. A Dubai departure on this type usually means repositioning one in, so the quote comes back through the charter companies and platforms that broker large-cabin jets in the UAE.

Challenger 650 charter questions

How much does it cost to charter a Challenger 650?

Broker-published estimates for 2026 put it between $8,500 and $11,000 per flight hour, clustering nearer $9,500. No UAE-specific published rate exists for the type, so those are global figures weighted toward North America. Fuel surcharges, international handling, ramp fees, catering, crew overnights and daily minimums are charged on top of the hourly rate.

How many passengers does a Challenger 650 hold?

Charter layouts normally seat 9 or 10, and Bombardier markets flexible arrangements for up to 12. The maximum certified seating is 19 passengers, limited by the number of exits. The type certificate covers an aircraft without passenger provisions, so each interior is approved individually and seat counts vary by operator.

What is the range of a Challenger 650?

Bombardier publishes 4,000 nm and labels it theoretical, assuming long-range cruise, standard atmosphere, 6 passengers, 2 crew and NBAA IFR reserves. Broker spec tables list a normal range of 3,756 nm, which is the more realistic planning number. Payload with full fuel is 1,150 lb, so a full cabin cuts into both figures.

Can a Challenger 650 fly from Dubai to London nonstop?

Yes. London is 2,972 nm from Dubai, well inside the aircraft's range, and Bombardier names Dubai to London as a Challenger 650 city pair. Expect around 7 hours at long-range cruise, longer into a strong headwind.

Does the Challenger 650 have a bedroom or a shower?

No to both. There is no stateroom and no shower on any published Challenger 650 configuration. The aircraft sleeps in the open cabin on seats that recline and berth, and on a 4-place divan with berthing capability. There is one enclosed lavatory, aft, with a vanity and sink.

Is the Challenger 650 still in production in 2026?

Yes. Bombardier delivered 25 Challenger 650s between January 2025 and July 2026, including 10 in the first 7 months of 2026. A new aircraft lists at roughly $32M to $33M equipped, and pre-owned examples were asking $18M to $30M in the first half of 2026.
